there was something that happened at moma machynlleth in 2019 and i really couldn’t remember what it was, to do with the terrible welsh-not and tape-reels and a map of wales and culture colony. i emailed culture colony to beg their aid of memory; pete replied and he said this:

Thank you for getting in touch Amy.

It was 2019, part of the Culture Colony Interventions. The band was Hen
Wlad Fy Mamau and the event was a re-imagining of an event by artist
Paul Davies of Beca called ‘Knots and Tangles’ in the mid 1980’s. The
punk band Anhrefn performed during that event in the Library in Wrecsam.
Members of Anhrefn started the band Hen Wlad Fy Mamau, so it was apt
that they should perform again in 2019 during the interventions whila
artworks by the Beca Group were on exhibition in the gallery space.

The ‘interventions’ took place over 3 months where we showed the work of
over 40 artists utilising 4 of the 7 gallery spaces in MOMA Machynlleth.

I did film everything and there are photographs as well – but I haven’t
had time to put anything together yet about the interventions. It was a
totally un-funded project, everyone participated voluntairily – it was
great fun, but exhausting.
